It's funny how in most Final Fantasy games... and probably in every other video game, the main character is always less cool than someone else in the team. In Final Fantasy 7, Cloud was pretty cool with his huge-ass sword, but he couldn't compete with Barret. A big, Mr. T lookey-likey with a gattling gun for an arm? No contest. Final Fantasy 10's Tidus looked like a pussy when compared to Auron, of course. And Balthier steals the crown in Final Fantasy 13.
Like I said in the last comic, the character development sucks a lot, so you don't really form much of an opinion of the main characters. Vaan is a nobody who doesn't do much other than look like a girl. Not only is Balthier a better character, he even comes right out and says it several times in the game: "I'm the leading man".
The real main character, Vaan doesn't argue. The fact he's a walking, talking pussy might be the reason, whereas Balthier is the closest thing to James Bond Final Fantasy has had. |
